A word from your layout expert
“DTP work in connection with translation is a skill that extends beyond standard layout work.
It is not enough that a file sent for translation ‘just’ looks good in the original language. When we prepare it, we have to take into account that the same text may well look very different (and that its length may well vary) in other languages. Customers expect us to return the same attractive layout, and this demands thorough preparation and a good eye for DTP pitfalls.
That is the challenge that makes this work so fascinating and means that it never becomes a question of simply ‘phoning it in’.
From a graphic perspective, every text behaves differently following translation, and our job is to make sure it ticks all the right boxes in every language. Every time.”
